Stringent Infection Control Measures

Universal precautions for infection control are strictly followed in every case. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, dialysis patients with suspected respiratory infections are isolated with separate machines and staff. As Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV are highly infectious viruses, patients who are carrying the infection in their blood are dialyzed in an isolated area. The dialysis staff from the positive area do not cross over and attend to negative patients. In addition all the staff in the dialysis area are vaccinated and immunized against hepatitis B. Linen is disposed of in a red bag and is double autoclaved

Cross infection rates are zero percent in the last 5 years since we have adopted the single use dialyzers and tubing policy. To prevent air borne infections we have state of the art air purifiers at our dialysis unit. Hemodialysis equipment (on and off kits, Heparin gloves) are individualised for all the patients at our unit
